The VDMA (Association of German Mechanical and Plant Engineering) represents over 3,100 primarily medium-sized companies in the capital goods industry, making it the largest industrial association in Europe. With 1,003,000 employees (January 2015), mechanical engineering is the largest industrial employer. He develops and produces key technologies for the world market. The export quota is 76 percent. With sales of 212 billion euros (2014), it is one of the leading branches of industry in Germany. The German mechanical engineering industry is an international leader - in 24 out of 31 comparable branches, German companies are among the top 3 providers in the world Half even world market leader. The VDMA membership covers the entire process chain - in the field of mechanical and plant engineering, including associated tools and components, of process, production, manufacturing, drive and automation technology, office and information technology, software, product-related services, i.e. from components to systems, from system suppliers to system integrators to service providers. The VDMA is divided into 15 cross-sectional departments, Representative offices in Berlin and Brussels, liaison offices in Brazil, China, India, Japan and Russia, 38 professional associations and working groups, international committees and forums, 6 regional associations and several service organizations.
